I’m really getting to know Ronin and Gretchen. Ronin is about 40 years old and Gretchen is 23-ish. They are a couple that has been camping up in Nederland all winter and plan to stay in Boulder for the summer. This is good news because Ronin is 3 months sober and I believe I can help him continue with that. When he’s sober he makes good decisions and is a better partner for Gretchen. Saturday night Ronin gave me a book about different types of shelters. Kind of a random gift but then I remembered, the previous week, we had a conversation about cool tree houses. What an awesome gift!
I got to spend some time with Vince. He’s a huge black guy with a kind face and a servant heart. He’s the one who takes care of other street folks. A perfect example; when Danny is drinking Vince lays off the sauce, a little, so he can watch out for Danny who gets loud and mouthy when drunk. I noticed that Vince is looking and sounding weary. I’m trying to figure out a way to encourage him and give him some hope.
We are out there lovin’ on folks and being the church. It’s fun and frustrating.
– Satan continues to attack
our hearts with chaos & discouragement. We need your prayers to continue to focus on the task God has set in front of us.
-Continue to pray for our financial support. We are still hitting the streets with purpose and passion trusting that the money will come in.
– Texas Trip April 23-30
I’m no longer speaking at the West Freeway Church of Christ. But we are still coming to the DFW area. I’d like to be able to speak/fund raise at a church Sunday the 25th. If you can help out with that let me know.
Niki, the kids, and I are officially at the first stop of our 4 state, 11 city, SEVENS tour. We will be gone until November the 3rd. We will be updating our supporters, checking in with our SABBATH groups that worked with us this last summer, having a little family fun, and raising some much needed financial support.
I got up early Tuesday morning to finish packing the van and run some errands. After scraping ice off the windshield and getting all the last minute details done, we were ready to leave…at 1:30pm. Over the last few weeks, I took the back 2 seats out of our 15 passenger van that was donated by some members from the Northside church of Christ in San Antonio, TX. I also built drawers and a hanging clothes rack to keep us organized on this long trip.
Our trip to Wichita went really well (9 hours with only 2 stops). We got in late last night and are set to update our friends at the Westlink church of Christ tonight. I had 4 really cool banners made for our informational display and had them shipped here, so Niki and I will get our display finished this afternoon. Zoe gets to hang out with her favorite person in Wichita, Miss Danita. I think they are going shopping. Miss Danita knows how to show Zoe a great time.
During our “tour”, our daily family devotionals will come from Psalms and Proverbs. We really want to focus on God and His love and care for us. Life and ministry has felt very uncertain over the last few months because we lost almost three quarters of our support (economy, job changes, God calling supporters to mission work). So I’m focusing us in on God and His care for 2 reasons. 1. We need to be reminded of how God has come through in the past and how He’ll do it again. 2. We need to keep God’s care for us forefront in our minds and hearts so that this whole trip doesn’t become about raising money. We truly want to bless these churches.
Our theme for this month is “SHOW UP!” We will be encouraging these congregations to “Show UP” in the lives of the broken and hurting near them. We’ll also be checking in with our SABBATH groups to see if they are “Showing Up” like they had promised.
Please pray for our family, spiritual protection, the hearts of those we are speaking to and for financial abundance.
Here are our Dates and stops. Come and see us if we’re near you.

On The Road and Lovin’ You,
For those of you who know me, this is probably my favorite. My first thought when I saw this video was, “What if somebody did this once or twice a month in different locations.” What a great way to be Christian.
Check this video out and then talk with someone about these questions.
1. How does this make you feel?
2. Could this be a blessing to others or make someone’s day?
3. Could a group like this be a ministry?
4. Is making people smile a “real” ministry?
I’M SERIOUS! Talk about it and somebody do it.
“I get this feeling sometimes that after the world ends, when God destroys all our buildings and our flags, we will wish we had seen everybody as equal, that we had eaten dinner with prostitutes, held them in our arms, opened up spare rooms for them and loved them and learned from them.”
Christ’s love compels us…he died for all. We regard no one from a worldly point of view. God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. For He says, ‘In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.’
He forgave us all our sins. Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Whatever you do, in word or in deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus.
1st paragraph from the book “Searching for God Knows What”, Donald Miller
2nd paragraph from the book of 2nd Corinthians in the Bible.
3rd paragraph from the book of Colossians in the Bible.
Here’s something to think about.
“There are seven sins in the world:
1. Wealth without work
2. Pleasure without conscience
3. Knowledge without character
4. Commerce without morality
5. Science without humanity
6. Worship without sacrifice
7. Politics without principle.”
Indian political and spiritual leader (1869 – 1948)
What do you think? Let’s discuss.
My dad was a big fan of country music so I grew up listening to Tom T. Hall, Buck Owens, Roy Clark, Charlie Pride, Charlie Daniels, and Hank Williams jr.. I remember hearing this song from Tom T. Hall and how restful and happy it made me.
Let today be a day of rest and talking to God about who and what you love.
